About the author:

The original creator of this collection is Phil Healey, a graphic designer from Manchester. In 1982, he met rick Glenville a native of London, at the Polytechnic. They were very interested in the strange stories that people often told in public. And they wanted to share them So they decided to write these stories.

They created phrases that described the strange stories of urban myths. They were sending the stories to the Guardian for publication. The Guardian loved these stories. And the editors decided to publish them in a weekly edition. This collection consists of many city stories. Their plot is similar to many stories which are in almost every city on the planet.

They published their first collection of Urban myths in book form in 1991. This book was very interesting and therefore considered as one of the best-selling books in several consecutive years. Other authors have now collected more than 1,200 urban legends from around the world.

Healey and Glenville use the Internet to collect new stories and comments from their readers. In addition to publishing their stories, the Guardian writes their articles about music and football and Haley lectures At the University of London and Glenville Articles.

As mentioned, the creators of this collection are Healey and Glenville. They enjoyed collecting and retelling funny local tales. Later they started publishing these stories in the Guardian newspaper. These stories were quite strange and made the readers laugh. Over the years, Healey and Glenville chose the best tales and published a book “Urban Myths.

In fact, this book is an anthology of original comedies based on stories told over several years. About the author:

Antoine Galland (April 4, 1646 – February 17, 1715) was a French-born French archaeologist. Which was the most famous and the first European translator of the stories of One Thousand and One Nights, which was published under the name Les mis et une nuits.

His version of these stories appeared in twelve volumes between 1704 and 1717 and had a significant impact on later European literature and attitudes in the Islamic world.

Sultan Shahriar had a beautiful wife. She was his only wife and he loved her more than anything in the world. The sultan’s wife falls in love with another man and betrays the sultan. and As a result, Sultan kills them both. and He hates all women. Every day, the Sultan asks his vizir to bring him a woman to marry. sultan married a woman every night. The next morning, he killed her. He believed that no other woman would bother him.

The vizir had to find a new wife for the sultan every day. but this It was a very difficult task, all the families were afraid and no girl wanted to be the Sultan’s wife one night and then die. That’s why families sent their daughters to faraway places. The vizier started to worry about his own life when almost no young women left.

The vizir had two daughters. One of them, Sheherezade, was beautiful and very clever. Sheherazade asked his father to make her the new Sultan’s wife. At first, the worried father refused to satisfy his daughter’s desire, but Sheherezade convinced him she had a very genius plan.

The legend comes from the 1882 Treasure Island novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, which mentions the black beard.

According to legend, the black beard’s treasure is off the coast of Maryland and is cursed and no one can pull it out. About Edward Teach(Black beard):

Edward teach, known as the black beard, was a notorious British pirate operating in the Caribbean and off the coast of the American colonies. In 1716, he joined captain Hornigeld, a pirate in the Caribbean.

Hornigeld assigned Blackbeard to command one of his warships, and the two together engaged in a number of piracy. Then black beard succeeded him. Black beard and his companions were hiding in suitable places and were looting the ships’ gold in a surprise attack.

Alibaba and his older brother Qasim were the two sons of a merchant. When the merchant died, the elder son got a heritage and a wealthy wife. The younger son Ali Baba got nothing and married to a poor woman. Ali Baba became a woodcutter.

One day he was working in the forest, collecting the firewood. Suddenly he saw forty men in black on the black horses.

 They came to a huge stone and one of them said, ‘Open Sesame’. Something incredible happened: the stone opened an entrance into a cave. Everybody went inside.

Ali Baba did the same thing, after the men in black had left. He said the magic words, ‘Open Sesame’. The stone obeyed him and he entered the cave.

He found many treasures there and decided to take something with him. The thieves learn this and try to kill Ali Baba, but Ali Baba’s faithful slave-girl foils their plots. Ali Baba gives his son to her in marriage and keeps the secret of the treasure.
